Ice Bats Schedule Released
July 23, 2003 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Austin Ice Bats News Release
The Austin Ice Bats of the Central Hockey League today released the team's schedule for the upcoming 2003-'04 season. The defending Governors' Cup champions will play 64 regular season games, including 32 home dates at the Travis County Expo Center.
The Ice Bats are entering their eighth season of play, their third as members of the CHL. The team will open the season on Saturday, October 18th against the New Mexico Scorpions, in a rematch of last year's President's Cup Playoff Conference Semifinals.
Of the Bats' 64 games, 33 will be played against Southeast Division rivalsâthe Corpus Christi Rayz, Laredo Bucks, and expansion Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. The Bats have won the Southeast Division title in each of the last two seasons.
"We are really looking forward to the start of the new season," said Eve DeForest, Ice Bats Director of Ticket Sales. "This year's schedule has a little something for everyone. We have 13 Saturday dates, and nine Fridays, so the majority of our home games are on those attractive nights. Additionally, we have five Sunday afternoon games, perfect for families... and a handful of weekday games, during which we hope to have some really exciting promotions.
"For those that have never been to a game, or haven't been in awhile, it's a great time to check us out," DeForest said. "With a new coach and a new ownership dedicated to making each one of our games a special event, fans will be more entertained than ever. And it all starts October 18th.
Season tickets for the upcoming season are on sale now at the Ice Bats office, in full-, half-season, or 10-game plans. Free Belfry Club membership is still included for all new full season packages, as well as free parking for all full-season and half-season plans.
For more information, fans may call the Ice Bats Ticket Office at (512) 927-PUCK, or log onto the team's website at www.icebats.com.
