Joe Benson's RBI single in the top of the 17th inning off of Taylor Dugas took a 2-1 pushed the Binghamton Mets to a 2-1 victory over the Thunder in front of 5,495 fans at ARM & HAMMER Park on Friday night.

Dugas, appearing for the second time on the mound this season, walked the bases loaded with nobody out to begin the 17th before Benson dropped a base hit into center field for the 2-1 advantage. Danny Oh, appearing on the mound for the third time in his professional career, finished the inning with a pop out and a line out double play turned by 2B Tony Renda.

The extra inning affair wasted strong starts from both Caleb Smith (7 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K) and Robert Gsellman (7.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 2 K). The Thunder bullpen got 7.2 innings of shutout baseball from relievers Andury Acevedo, Mark Montgomery and Connor Mullee before turning to Dugas with the bases loaded in the 15th inning. Dugas got out of the inning by getting Jonathan Galvez to fly out to right field.

Francisco Arcia accounted for the only run driven in in the game for the Thunder. Arcia drove in Mark Payton with a fielder's choice groundout in the seventh inning.

Friday was the longest game in Binghamton Mets franchise history by innings played. For the Thunder, it is just the second longest game of the season falling one inning shy of the franchise record 18 inning game on May 1 against the Akron Rubberducks.
