Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, a two-time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," announced the participation in the fundraising event, "Movember," with fans encouraged to participate in donations for moustaches grown by the team to support men's health.

"We're proud as members of the Stockton Thunder, to raise awareness this month for a serious issue and support men's health and the fight against prostate cancer," said Thunder head coach Matt Thomas. "As part of the hockey world uniting on this great cause, our team was also united by starting this in our own corner, so we're having a lot of fun with it and continue to search for support from the loyal and passionate fans of Stockton."

A monthly event in November which includes participation from several teams in the National Hockey League, American Hockey League and ECHL, including the Thunder NHL affiliate in Edmonton and AHL affiliate in Oklahoma City, several members of the Thunder team and hockey staff are growing moustaches until Nov. 30, symbolic of the fight against cancer among males.

The men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days to raise funds and awareness.

Donations for individual Thunder moustache pledges are being accepted online and the funds raised through Movember's U.S. campaign benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

More information can be found at www.movember.com and the Thunder pledge site, featuring individual photos, is located at www.StocktonThunder.com. Fans, whether growing a moustache or a fan of the moustache, are also invited to become a member of the team page by registering for free.
