Thunder Fall to Odessa

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder lost 7-3 to the Odessa Jackalopes on Saturday night at the Kansas Coliseum. Collin Circelli led the Jackalopes with a hat trick, as the Thunder lost their sixth game in a row.

Odessa built a 4-0 lead over the Thunder by the 13:40 mark in the first period, receiving two scores from Circelli, and one each from Kenny Bernard and Mike Lesperance. Troy Ofukany scored at 14:35 in the first to get Wichita on the scoredboard. Ofukany has scored a goal in three consecutive games.

After an acrobatic save by Jacks goaltender Juha Toivonen, Jason Tessier knocked in the rebound from the slot just under the crossbar to make it 4-2 Odessa.

Having built up momentum heading into the third, Devin Guy electrified the crowd in a bout with Garrett Gruenke. However, Guy was given a match penalty on top of his fighting major, which put Odessa on the power play for five continuous minutes. The Jackalopes took full advantege, scoring twice on the power play, including Circelli's third of the night. Marc Belanger added a goal for the Thunder at 7:33, but Kory Karlander scored on a penalty shot at 11:46 to make it 7-3.

Krister Toews took the loss, allowing Odessa's first four goals. John Daigneau saved 15 of 18 in relief. Toiveonen picked up the win, saving 12 of 14 before Alexandre Vincent subbed in for the Jacks in the third. Wichita went 0 for 5 on the power play, while the Jackalopes went 4 for 13.

The Thunder heads to Texas on Sunday to finish their season series with the Brahmas.
