Thunder Blanked in Missouri

INDEPENDENCE, MO- The Wichita Thunder lost 4-0 to the Missouri Mavericks at the Independence Events Center on Friday night. The Mavericks scored two quick goals within the first 3:14 of the game, chasing starting goaltender Scott Campbell. Kyle Bochek made it 1-0 at 2:29 on a shot from the left circle. Mike Burgoyne flipped a shot from the outside past Campbell at 3:14 to make it 2-0. Bill Vandermeer scored on a one-timer at 16:26 in the first to give Missouri a 3-0 lead. Carlyle Lewis's third period power play goal opened up a 4-0 lead for Missouri.

Jon Horrell saved 32 of 34 in relief of Campbell. Nine different Mavericks had at least one point in the game. Wichita was outshot 34 to 21. Jay Henderson earned a fighting major in his Thunder debut, as did Kyle Bruce who returned from the 14-Day IR. Chris Kovalcik and Jordan Little also picked up fighting majors.

The Thunder returns home tomorrow, opening a two-game series against the Colorado Eagles. Saturday's game begins at 7:05 p.m. For tickets, call the Thunder office at (316) 264-GOAL.
