Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - The Brahmas sent a simple message to the Corpus Christi IceRays Friday: Don't mess with Texas. In a 2-1 victory at NYTEX the Brahmas extended their winning streak over the ‘Rays to ten straight games.

It was a shot by Justin Quenneville that opened the scoring in the first as he fired his eighth goal of the year past Brett Jaeger for the 1-0 ‘Rays lead. Two minutes later Texas forward Anders Strome retaliated with his third goal in two games. Strome idled on the doorstep of Kevin Nastiuk and slammed the shot home with assists going to Elias Godoy and Ross Rouleau.

The Brahmas took a 2-1 lead in the second when Strome and Godoy sent the puck to Grant Jacobsen's blade and to the back of the net at the 4:31 mark. The Texas defense played tight and stingy in the middle frame allowing just a pair of Corpus shots in the period for Jaeger to fend off.

Twelve shots in the frenzied third by the ‘Rays did not startle Jaeger who remained steady in the Brahmas net as he earned his 97th career win in the 2-1 win, stopping 21 shots. Texas went 5 for 5 on the penalty kill and are now 9-9-3 for the season.

The Brahmas take to the ice once again tomorrow night at the NYTEX Sports Centre when they host their I-20 foe, Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, at 7:05 PM. For ticket information please call (817) 336-4423 or log on to: www.brahmas.com.
