Trenton Thunder News Release

(Manchester, NH)- A pair of 1st Inning runs for New Hampshire ended up being enough for a 2-0 win over the Thunder on Thursday night. The loss was the second in three games Trenton against the Fisher Cats.

Thunder starter Tyler Clippard allowed a single by C Curtis Thigpen and a double by 3B Danny Solano for a 1-0 New Hampshire lead. RF Ron Davenport added an RBI single later in the inning for the second run. But Clippard (3-10) settled down after that and retired 16 of his final 17 batters faced. He ended the night with three hits allowed, two walks and nine strikeouts.

New Hampshire starter Kyle Yates did Clippard one better by tossing seven shutout innings for the win. Yates (4-6) worked out of trouble in the first three innings, stranding five Thunder base runners. He allowed three hits with two walks and eight strikeouts on the night.

The Fisher Cats (36-41) then saw Rodney Ormond work a scoreless 8th Inning with Tracy Thorpe retiring the Thunder (42-37) in the 9th Inning for his 5th save.

Trenton was 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position in the game.

Trenton begins a four-game series in Portland, ME against the Sea Dogs on Friday. Game time is 7:00 PM. Matt DeSalvo (1-1, 5.30) starts for Trenton against Portland's Luis Mendoza (0-1, 4.15).
