Manchester, NH -Kyle Yates pitched seven scoreless innings, and two first-inning runs held up as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats shut out the Trenton Thunder, 2-0, before 3,693 at Merchantsauto.com Stadium Thursday night.

Yates (4-6) scattered three hits, walked two and struck out eight. Rodney Ormond pitched the eighth inning, before Tracy Thorpe struck out two in the ninth inning en route to his fifth save of the season and the Fisher Cats' eleventh shutout victory of the year.

New Hampshire (36-41) got all of its offense in the first inning against Tyler Clippard (3-10). Curtis Thigpen singled and scored on Danny Solano's double down the leftfield line. Ron Davenport plated Solano with a single to right.
