Thunder Await 6,000,000th Fan On Wednesday

(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, will welcome "Fan # 6 Million" in franchise history at Waterfront Park on Wednesday, June 11. The franchise attendance stands at 5,998,001 following the crowd of 4,712 on Tuesday night.

The lucky 6,000,000th fan will receive a great selection of prizes from the Thunder. The prize package will include two season tickets for the remainder of the 2008 season, lunch with a Thunder player including transportation from A-1 Limousine, an autographed Joba Chamberlain ball and a Thunder jersey and hat. The lucky fan will also be honored on the field prior to the game, spend a half inning on the Thunder radio network during the game and have their picture on the Thunder website.

The game on Wednesday will feature a bobblehead giveaway for the first 2,000 fans ages 6 & over featuring Yankee outfielder and former Thunder standout Melky Cabrera thanks to A-1 Limousine. The Thunder take on the Connecticut Defenders (San Francisco Giants) starting at 7:05 PM. The gates at Waterfront Park will open at 5:30 PM for season ticket holders and 6:00 PM for all ticket holders.

The Thunder entered the 2008 season with an attendance of 5,847,666 fans. The team has drawn 150,335 to this point in the season and now stand 1,999 fans away from the 6 million mark.

The Thunder began play in Trenton on May 9, 1994 and welcomed their 1,000,000th fan through the gates of Waterfront Park in 1996. The 2,000,000th fan, Charlie Brown of Trenton, NJ, swept through the turnstiles in 1998. The 3,000,000th fan was eight-year old Grace Conway of Yardley, PA during the 2001 season. The 4,000,000th fan was Kevin Burch of Flemington, NJ during the 2003 season. In September 2005, Eileen Conville of Cinnaminson, NJ walked through the gates of Waterfront Park to become the 5,000,000th fan.

The Thunder's per game attendance average this season is 5,568, the highest in the Eastern League.

The Thunder are celebrating their 15th season in Trenton in 2008 and are the first team in the history of Minor League Baseball at the Double-A level or below to draw 400,000 fans for thirteen consecutive seasons.
