Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

The Harrisburg Senators scored twice in the ninth, beating the Binghamton Mets 4-3 at NYSEG Stadium Tuesday. The loss ends Binghamton's win streak at five games.

Harrisburg (35-27) went ahead in the first when Mike Daniel led off with a single, advanced to third on an error and scored on a Bobby Parnell wild pitch.

Binghamton (34-29) knotted the score in the second. Caleb Stewart, Mike Carp and Ambiorix Concepcion began the inning with three straight singles off Mike Hinckley, loading the bases with no outs. Emmanuel Garcia then hit into a double play, scoring Stewart with the tying run.

Harrisburg took a 2-1 lead in the fourth on Daniel's RBI single, but the B-Mets rallied for another tie in the sixth. Nick Evans drew a one-out walk off Hinckley before Daniel Murphy and Stewart singled, the latter scoring Evans.

An inning later, the B-Mets took their only lead of the game when Rafael Arroyo doubled off Yunior Novoa, moved to third on Jonathan Malo's bunt single and scored on Jose Coronado's sacrifice fly to make it 3-2.

However, Harrisburg rallied for two in the ninth off Eddie Kunz (1-3). Andrew LeFave's RBI groundout tied the score before Marco Yepez plated the winning run with a pinch-hit RBI single.

Beltran Perez (2-2) tossed a scoreless inning for win. Tim Bittner got the final two outs for his second save in as many chances.

Wednesday, the Binghamton Mets play the second game of their three-game series against the Harrisburg Senators. Lefty Jonathon Niese (4-4, 3.48) will start for the B-Mets against Shairon Martis (4-3, 3.48) of Harrisburg. The first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. at NYSEG Stadium with the radio broadcast starting at 6:50 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.

Notes: there were a total of 1:35 worth of rain delays - a 1:13 delay before the game began and a :22 delay during the bottom of the fourth...the B-Mets suffered their second loss of the season when leading after eight innings (also 5/26 vs. REA). Those games have accounted for both of Kunz's blown saves this season.
