New Britain Rock Cats News Release
New Britain, CT - Altoona's Derek Hankins tossed seven impressive innings and his offense backed him up with plenty of run support as the Curve downed the Rock Cats, 10-2.
Altoona's Brad Corley led off the second inning with a home run to left field to put the Curve ahead, 1-0. The Rock Cats took advantage of Altoona's miscues in the bottom of the third. Drew Butera reached base after being hit with a pitch by Hankins with two-outs. Hankins then unleashed a wild pitch that allowed Butera to move to second. First baseman Jason Delaney's error on a ball hit by Felix Molina allowed Butera to score and tie the game, 1-1
The Curve answered back with four runs in the fourth. Luis Cruz had a two-run single and Shelby Ford delivered a two-run double to put the Curve ahead, 5-1.
Altoona out-hit the Rock Cats 16-4. The Curve had three players with three hits apiece - Anthony Webster, Jason Bowers, and Cruz (2 doubles, 3 R).

Rock Cats starter Errol Simonitsch was struck for seven runs on 12 hits in five innings. Simonitsch (1-4, 9.96) struck out four while walking none. Erik Lis had a solo home run for the Rock Cats in the bottom of the ninth.
