Thunder Acquire Former CHL Champion from Rapid City

Wichita, KS - The Wichita Thunder, proud member of the ECHL and powered by Toyota, announced a trade on Monday afternoon, sending forward Danick Gauthier to the Rapid City Rush for forward Kale Kerbashian and a player to be named later.

Kerbashian, 25, should be a familiar name to Thunder fans having played two seasons

with the Allen Americans. A native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, the 5-foot-11, 200-pound forward had 22 points in 31 games along with 14 points in 19 playoff games during the Americans' run to the CHL Title in 2012-13. He had his best statistical season of his career a year ago, combining for 21 goals, 41 assists and 62 points between Evansville and Rapid City.

Prior to turning pro, Kerbashian played 252 career games in the OHL with London, Mississauga and Sarnia. He finished with 207 points (87g, 120a) to go along with 157 penalty minutes. His best season came during the 2010-11 campaign, racking up 88 points (27g, 51a) in 68 games with the Sarnia Sting.

The Thunder returns to action at home this coming Friday night as the Tulsa Oilers come to town at 7:05 p.m.
