Three New England Revolution Players Called in for National Team Duty

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Three New England Revolution players have been called in for national team duty, as Revolution Academy products Justin Rennicks (United States U-20 MNT) and Zachary Herivaux (Haiti), and defender Gabriel Somi (Syria) will join their respective national teams for training camps and matches this March. All three players are expected to be unavailable for New England's home match on March 24 vs. FC Cincinnati.

Rennicks, 19, will join the U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team for training camp and a pair of matches in Spain from March 18-26 in preparation for this summer's 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland. The U.S. team will play France on Friday, March 22 (10:00 a.m. ET) and Japan on Monday, March 25 (7:00 a.m. ET), its final two scheduled matches before the U-20 World Cup begins on May 23. The South Hamilton, Mass. native earns his second U-20 MNT call-up of the year after he was selected by Head Coach Tab Ramos for a training camp in Florida in January. On the youth international stage, Rennicks has represented the United States at the U-20, U-18, and U-16 levels.

The former Indiana University forward saw his most recent international action in November 2018, when he helped the U.S. Under-20 squad win the Concacaf U-20 Championship. He registered four goals and six assists across eight appearances in that tournament, which secured the United States' spot in the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Currently in his first MLS season after signing his Homegrown Player contract on Jan. 18, 2019, Rennicks made his MLS debut on March 9 as a halftime substitute against Columbus Crew SC.

Herivaux, 23, will join the Haiti National Team on March 17 in preparation for its fourth and final 2019/20 Concacaf Nations League qualifying match against Cuba. The contest will be played at Stade Sylvio Cator in Port-au-Prince on Sunday, March 24. Through the first three matches of the tournament, which will determine 10 of the 16 participants for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup, Haiti owns a perfect 3-0-0 record and sits tied atop the qualifying table with nine points. Herivaux has earned three of his five career caps in this tournament, contributing one assist in the 2-1 win over Saint Lucia on Oct. 17, 2018.

In his professional career with New England, the Brookline, Mass. native has made 10 MLS appearances and tallied two goals in U.S. Open Cup play. He also added one goal across four USL appearances with San Antonio FC in 2017.

Somi, 27, will join the Syria National Team in Basra, Iraq to participate in the 2019 International Friendship Championship between Syria, Iraq, and Jordan. Syria's first match kicks off on Friday, March 22 against Iraq, followed by a tilt with Jordan on Sunday, March 24. Somi will be away on national team duty from March 18-27. The Orebro, Sweden native received his first call-up for the Qasioun Eagles in October 2017, and will be looking to earn his first cap with Syria. Somi started 12 of 14 games played and contributed two assists in his first season with the Revs in 2018.

The Revolution will return to MLS action on Sunday, March 17 for a meeting with Toronto FC at BMO Field. The match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Boston, 98.5 The Sports Hub, and 1260 AM Nossa Radio USA.
