Three Hopper Homers Drop Claws 6-3

GREENSBORO, NC - Three two-run home runs proved more than enough for Greensboro starter Jarlin Garcia, who allowed a run on three hits in seven innings in leading the Grasshoppers to a 6-3 win over the BlueClaws on Tuesday night at NewBridge Bank Park.

Greensboro (29-21) has now won six straight games while the BlueClaws (19-30) have dropped three straight for the sixth time this year. Garcia, who improved to 4-2 on the year, won his second game against the BlueClaws.

Carlos Lopez took BlueClaws starter Mark Leiter Jr. deep in the first inning and and Justin Bohn did the same in the fifth. Leiter allowed those four runs in six innings and fell to 4-4 on the season.

Sharif Othman hit a two-run home run off Ulises Joaquin in the eighth inning for the final two runs.

The BlueClaws got their first run in the third inning with two outs. Jiandido Tromp doubled and after JP Crawford walked, Carlos Tocci brought Tromp in with an RBI single.

Samuel Hiciano added a two-run home run in the ninth. It was his third home run of the road trip and sixth of the season. He is 32-95 since April 25th.

Both Tromp and Willians Astudillo had hits for the BlueClaws, extending their hitting streaks to 11 games apiece.

The series concludes Wednesday at 12:30. RHP Jon Prosinski (--) makes his first BlueClaws start of the season after opening the year with Clearwater. RHP Matt Milroy (5-2, 1.83) starts for Greensboro.
