Boise Hawks News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - Pounding out a season-high three home runs, the Boise Hawks ended a five-game road losing streak with an 8-6 victory over the Everett Aquasox before 1,954 fans at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Jesus Morelli, Rafael Lopez, and Paul Hoilman each hit round-trippers for the Hawks - their first three-homer night since last August, with the team registering their first road win since July 15.

Boise jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, getting an RBI single by Hoilman and an RBI double from Yaniel Cabezas, pushing the lead to 6-0 in the third on a Cabezas RBI single and a three-run homer from Morelli.

Everett would claw back, getting a two-run single from Jesus Yepez and a two-run homer from Jim Wood in the third to get within 6-4, adding a run on a double play ball in the sixth to cut the margin to 6-5.

The Hawks would get a pair of insurance runs in the seventh, as Lopez and Hoilman hit back-to-back home runs. Everett would put the tying runs aboard in the ninth, but Bryce Shafer got Mike Dowd to pop up to end the game, picking up his seventh save.

Lopez, Hoilman, and Cabezas each went 3-for-5 for the Hawks, part of a 15-hit attack, while Yepez went 3-for-5 in the loss for Everett.

Game 2 of the series is tomorrow night, with Ben Wells taking the mound for the Hawks against Stephen Landazuri at 8:05 p.m. (MT)

NOTES - Hoilman's homer was his tenth of the season - the most since Kyler Burke hit 10 in 2007...Lopez has hit safely in six-straight games and 13 of his last 14 games...Boise was swept in a five-game series last year in Everett.
