Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils extended their winning streak to a season high six games Wednesday night, defeating the Vancouver Canadians 7-4. The victory makes it 13 wins in their last 16 games for the Dust Devils and puts them in an early tie for first place in the second half East Division race with the Boise Hawks.
Tri-City (2-0 second half, 24-16 overall) starting pitcher Chris Jensen went three innings in his Dust Devils and professional debut, getting a no-decision. In those three innings Jensen allowed three runs on three hits. Dust Devils reliever Ben Alsup (2-0) earned his second win of the season, going five innings of relief and allowing one run on three hits. Tri-City lefty Craig Bennigson (SV, 2) earned his second save of the season, working a scoreless ninth.
Vancouver (0-2, 24-16) starting pitcher Kramer Champlin, who was making his Canadians debut, went just two innings and allowed one run on three hits before reaching his pitch count limit. Canadians reliever Brandon Kaye (1-2) took his second loss of the season, going just 1/3 of an inning and allowing three runs on three walks and no hits.
The Tri-City infield trio of Tim Smalling, Taylor Featherston and Jayson Langfels provided plenty of offense for the Dust Devils to secure their second win of the second half. They each had multiple hits on the night and combined for four doubles and five of the Dust Devils' seven runs.
Thursday night at Gesa Stadium is game two of five between the Dust Devils and Canadians and is Dollars in Your Dog Night, with the purchase of every hot dog including a chance to win cash! Tri-City will start righty Christian Bergman on the mound with right-hander Blake McFarland getting the start for the Canadians. First pitch is at 7:15 p.m.
