The Zambonis to perform at February 12th River Rats Game
February 7, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Albany River Rats News Release
Albany N.Y. - The Albany River Rats announced today that all-hockey-rock band, The Zambonis, will perform live at the club's February 12th game against the Binghamton Senators. The band will perform before the 4:00pm face-off and again during the intermissions.
The Zambonis are featured in the current cover story of The Hockey News. Recently, the group has been featured in Sports Illustrated, Entertainment Weekly, The Wall Street Journal and Billboard along with profiles in the New York Times, New York Magazine, Hockey Digest, and the New York Post. The band has also been featured on CNN, ESPN, CNBC, MTV, FOX Sports and such syndicated hockey programs as Hockey Week and NHL Cool Shots. The group also gained attention with their pre-game, on-ice performance at the 2002 NHL All-Star Game at The Staples Center in Los Angeles.
In Albany, their performance highlights a game that will also feature a live appearance by Nickelodeon's Dora The Explorer, who will have prizes for selected children in attendance. Fans may also register for the chance to win a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida or even win a beautiful diamond from Hannoush Jewelers, a family business with locations at Crossgates Mall and Colonie Center. All those attending are invited to stay for the Post-Game Autograph Session with the Players!
The Zambonis were formed in 1991 when defenseman/guitarist/singer Dave Schneider put together a group that played nothing but songs about hockey. The group will follow their Pepsi Arena performance with a 9:00pm show at Kings Tavern, 241 Union Avenue in Saratoga, NY. The Zambonis will be joined by another all-hockey-rock band, Two Man Advantage and The Vertical Agents for the King's Tavern show. For more information, contact Dave Schneider at (203) 727-3299 or visit their website at www.thezambonis.com.
The Albany River Rats, in their 12th season as a member of the American Hockey League, are owned and operated by Capital District Sports Inc., and serve as the primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils.
