
Road weary Admirals come home

Milwaukee Admirals News Release
OVERALL...The Ads (33-14-2-2) enter this week's action leading the AHL's West Division by 11 points over the Chicago Wolves (27-18-4-1). Milwaukee is 5-1 in the last six, 11-4-0-1 in the last 16 and 15-5-0-1 in the last 21 outings. The Ads have the third best winning percentage in the league at .686 behind the Manchester Monarchs (.755) and the Rochester Americans (.750). The Admirals are now 3-1in February. Last season, they won a franchise record 12 games in February posting a 12-2-1 mark.
THIS WEEK'S ACTION...
VS. HOUSTON...The Ads are 4-3 vs. the Aeros in 2004-05, including 1-1 at the Bradley Center. The Admirals are 12-3-1 in the last 16 overall games versus Houston and 4-1-1 in the last six at the BC.
@CHICAGO...The Admirals are 6-1-1-0 vs. Chicago this season, including 2-1-1-0 at the Allstate Arena. The Ads are 7-1-1-0 in the last nine overall meetings, with a 3-1-1 mark in the last five in Chicago.
VS. UTAH...The Admirals are 5-1 against the Grizzlies, including 1-0 at the Bradley Center this season. Milwaukee is 7-1 in the last eight overall games vs. Utah and 10-2 in the last 12. The Ads have won four straight vs. Utah at the Bradley Center and are 9-1-1-2 in the last 13 BC meetings.
THREE-IN-THREE...The Ads play three games in three nights this week for the sixth time this season. The Admirals have a 12-2-1-0 record when playing three games in three nights, including a 9-2-1 record on the road. They are 5-0 in game ones, 4-0-1 in the second games and are 3-2 in game threes.
ONE IS THE LONELIEST NUMBER...The Admirals were shutout on Saturday night in Houston, 1-0. It was the 16th 1-0 verdict in Admirals franchise history and the fourth this season. The Ads are now 6-9-0-1 in 1-0 games, including 1-3 this season. Last season, the Admirals were shutout only once.
LOOK AT THE STARS...Defenseman Dan Hamhuis and right wing Simon Gamache were named to the Canadian AHL All-Star team roster for the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic, which will be played in Manchester, N.H. this month. They join Admirals defenseman Brad Tiley, who was selected to captain the Canadian team, his third career AHL All-Star Classic appearance. Defenseman Andrew Hutchinson will make his second straight all-star appearance as a member of the Planet USA AHL All-Star Team. Claude Noel will serve as the head coach for the Canadian AHL All-Star team.
NO OVERTIME...Milwaukee needed overtime to decide six of their first 17 games, but have only played one overtime fray in the last 34. The Ads are now 3-0-2 in overtime games this season and 0-2 in shootouts.
AFTER 51...The Admirals' have 70 points (33-14-2-2) after 51 games compared to 65 (28-14-6-3) at the same point last season. On the road, the Ads had 40 points (17-8-3-3) after 31 road games last season compared to 41 points (19-9-2-1) this season. On home ice, Milwaukee is 14-5-0-1 in 2004-05 compared to 10-8-2 after 20 home games in 2003-04.
ROAD WARRIORS...The Admirals will play their 32nd road game of the season on Friday night in Chicago. Last season, Milwaukee didn't play its 32nd road game until March 17 in Utah. The Admirals under Claude Noel have amassed an impressive 93 of a possible 142 points (.655) in 71 regular season road games.
LEADERS AT A GLANCE... Simon Gamache tops Milwaukee scorers and is third in the AHL with 66 points (22g-44a). His 44 assists rank tied for second among AHL playmakers and he's tied for the AHL lead with 14 power play tallies. Darren Haydar has 25 points (12g-13a) over his last 21 games and ranks second among Admirals' scorers with 44 points (20g-24a). The University of New Hampshire alum and 2003 AHL Rookie of the Year has now scored 20 or more goals in each of his first three pro seasons. Vern Fiddler leads the Admirals in plus/minus with a +18 and is sixth among scorers with 30 points (14g-16a).
BETWEEN THE PIPES...Brian Finley is second among AHL netminders with 25 victories and he ranks tenth among AHL goaltenders with a 2.15 goals against average. His four shutouts are the most in a season by an Admirals goaltender since Chris Mason had five during the 2000-01 season. He has eight career Admirals shutouts, two shy of Mason's career franchise record. On Thursday night, Seamus Kotyk earned his first Admirals' victory since December 20th stopping 26 shots in a 5-1 victory over the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks at the BC. Kotyk returned from a conditioning assignment in Rockford where he posted a 3-1 record, a .76 goals against average and a .971 save percentage in four games earning UHL Goaltender of the Week honors.
ONE-TWO PUNCH...Hutchinson leads AHL defensemen with 37 points (10g-27a) and Hamhuis ranks second among AHL blueliners with 34 points (10g-24a). They are tied for third with ten goals each and tied for second with three game winners each. Hamhuis has eight power play goals to top AHL defenseman, while Hutchinson's 27 assists are tied for second among playmaking blueliners.
GREAT IN THE SECOND...The Admirals are tied for second in the league offensively averaging 3.33 goals per game. They've outscored their foes 170-126 overall and hold an impressive 72-49 scoring edge in the second period.
POWER PLAY... The Ads lead the AHL with 64 power play goals. The Admirals were blanked in seven opportunities in two games vs. Houston and are now 0 of 16 in the last four games against the Aeros. The Admirals have scored 10 goals in 33 power play chances (30.3%) in the last six games and 27 goals in 85 chances (31.8%) over the last 21 games. Milwaukee ranks third in the AHL in power play percentage completing 64 of 305 chances (21%), including an AHL best 20.2% (34 of 168) on foreign ice.
COMEBACK KIDS...The Admirals 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Maple Leafs in St. John's last Tuesday night was the Admirals second win this season when trailing after two periods. The first was a 4-3 victory over Cleveland on October 20, 2004. The Ads, who were 0-17-3-1 when trailing after two periods during 2003-04, are now 2-9 this season.
