After rallying to win Game 1, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs look to take Game 2 and the series at Syracuse today at 1:05 p.m.
PITCHING MATCHUP
Cole Irvin goes for his third straight victory this afternoon. Former MLB All-Star Edwin Jackson starts for Syracuse. Irvin has won his last two starts and is 3-1 on the season. The reigning IL Pitcher of the Week has gone seven innings in his last three starts and at least six in his last five. The Chiefs will send World Series Champion Edwin Jackson to the mound this afternoon. He's 2-1 on the year with a 3.44 ERA.
LAST NIGHT
Joey Meneses provided the game-winning power Friday for Lehigh Valley, launching a two-out ninth-inning home run off Chris Smith as the IronPigs rallied to defeat the Syracuse Chiefs 2-1 at NBT Bank Stadium. HEAD-TO-HEAD
The teams have split their four 2018 contests with the Chiefs taking 2 of 3 at Coca-Cola Park two weeks ago and the Pigs winning last night in Syracuse. All-time, the Chiefs hold a slight edge in the series with an 84-83 overall mark. The Chiefs hold a 45-40 edge on games played in Syracuse, but the Pigs have had a winning record at NBT Bank Stadium in each of the last three seasons.
The Chiefs next trip to Coca-Cola Park will be July 2-3 for a two-game series.
NEXT WEEK AT COCA-COLA PARK
The Pigs return home Monday night for a four-game series against IL North opponent Rochester.
