Dillon Deals Bisons to 9-2 Victory

Justin Dillon has pitched in only 22 games in his professional career, just don't tell the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders that.

The 24-year old righty earned his first career Triple-A victory with seven innings of one-run baseball as the Bisons defeated their IL North division rivals, 9-2, Saturday afternoon from Coca-Cola Field.

The Blue Jays 10th round selection in last year's June Amateur Draft, Dillon has filled in superbly for a Bisons club that has seen half of its starting rotation promoted to the big leagues. His victory on Saturday was not only his first with the Bisons, but his first at any level above rookie ball.

Dillon allowed just four hits with really only one mistake on the afternoon, a 3-1 fastball left up to L.J. Mazzilli in the third inning for a solo home run. Dillon did not issue a walk and retired the final eight batters he faced. He recorded three strikeouts, getting the better of RailRiders outfielder Ryan McBroom twice.

Dillon came into Saturday's game with an 0-1 record with the Herd because of a loss a week ago in Lehigh Valley where he allowed an unearned run in a 1-0 IronPigs win. This time, his Bisons teammates gave him a lot of run support nice and early.

Buffalo scored four times in the first inning and tacked on four more in the third to put the game out of reach. In the first rally, Anthony Alford, Reese McGuire and Ian Parmley all picked up RBI-singles.

In the third, the Herd loaded the bases with no outs to set the stage for RBI hits from Jason Leblebijian, Parmley and Gift Ngoepe. Both rallies were with some good small ball, as Ngoepe's run-scoring double was the lone extra-base hit.

That was not the case for the Herd's final run in the fourth. McGuire lifted a long home run to right field for his second blast of the season.

Sam Moll and Al Alburquerque finished off the win, each throwing an inning of relief.
