Manitoba Moose News Release

The Manitoba Moose (16-18-3-2) continued their six-game road swing with the first game of a back-to-back set against the San Antonio Rampage (16-20-4-0) on Friday night. The Moose held the early edge in shots as the visitors pumped 16 attempts at Jeremy Smith in the San Antonio net. The Rampage netminder knocked away all 16 to help San Antonio to a scoreless tie with the Moose after 20 minutes. Kyle Connor had the best Manitoba chance, slipping in behind the defence and beating Smith, but sliding the puck off the goal post. Eric Comrie made seven stops for the Moose in the period. After a physical start to the second, Darren Kramer and Sam Henley took it to another level when they dropped the gloves and squared off. The Moose continued to sling pucks at the San Antonio net and finally broke through 11:35 into the period. Jack Roslovic changed gears and burned wide on the Rampage defence before tucking a perfect shot into the top corner for his ninth of the season. The Moose penalty kill came up with a timely stop, shutting down San Antonio's third powerplay of the game late in the second to keep the score 1-0 through two. The final frame saw the Moose lock things down, only allowing eight shots despite a push from the Rampage. That late push was interrupted when Roslovic drew a tripping penalty, sending the Moose to the powerplay. Manitoba capitalized as Chase De Leo was able to fire the puck into a mostly empty net after a great Kyle Connor pass to give the Moose breathing room. Comrie did his part, turning aside the eight shots allowed for a three period total of 25 and his first shutout of the season in a 2-0 Moose win. Quick Hits
