Chesapeake Baysox News Release
BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce today the creation of the Mane-ly May Celebration to compliment the return of Mustache May. On Thursday, May 24, as the team takes on the Harrisburg Senators at 7:05 p.m., fans with long tresses can enjoy a game to benefit Locks of Love.
Baysox Community Programs Manager Kate Milstead witnessed Mustache Mania first-hand last year and decided to create a feminine-friendly counterpart to benefit a worthy cause. "Our annual Mustache Celebration is great, but I think the addition of Mane-ly May will cater to a new group of hair lovers," Milstead said. "The connection to Locks of Love and the wonderful work they do, specifically for those battling Alopecia Areta, was natural."
The event features a special online only pre-sale ticket offer, donating $3 of every Reserved Seat ticket purchased with the code LOCKS to Locks of Love. Fans can purchase those tickets by visiting www.baysox.com and tickets must be ordered by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, May 23. Fans will have the opportunity to shed 10" or more of hair the night of the game to receive a free General Admission ticket (available on the night of the game only). Finally, any fan purchasing a ticket at the box office the night of the game will have the ability to add $1 onto their purchase to benefit Locks of Love.
As an unofficial awareness event for Alopecia Areta, the Baysox have also invited Blake Glass, founder of Autographs4Alocepia. As an avid baseball fan, Glass took it upon himself to donate 5 cents per autographed card he receives from baseball teams around the country to the National Alopecia Areta Foundation. Glass will attend the game on the 24th to throw out a ceremonial First Pitch, show off his baseball card collection, and help raise awareness for Alopecia Areta.
Baysox Baseball - We'll Knock Your 'Sox Off. The Baysox 20th season is underway. Parking is free at every Baysox home game and tickets are now available at www.baysox.com, or by calling the Baysox box office at (301) 464-4865.
