New Britain Explodes Late in 6-1 Win Over the Senators

For a second consecutive game, the Senators and New Britain Rock Cats played 12 innings with the Rock Cats winning. On Tuesday night, New Britain scored five runs in the twelfth inning for a 6-1 win. Harrisburg falls to 14-11 while New Britain improves to 16-9 on the season.

The Sens scored in the first inning on a double-play ground ball off the bat of Destin Hood. New Britain tied the game in the fifth on an rbi fielder's choice off the bat of Wilkin Ramirez. The Sens had chances throughout the game as they stranded a runner at third in the third, at second in the eighth, and at third in the tenth and eleventh innings. They put two on with no outs in the bottom of the tenth, but a double-play short circuited the inning.

Finally in the twelfth, the Rock Cats exploded for five runs, four of the unearned in breaking the game open. All of the runs scored with two outs.

Rob Gilliam started for the Senators and was outstanding. He pitched seven innings and allowed just a single run while striking out nine. Ryan Tatusko then pitched three effective inning striking out four. Hector Nelo pitched a perfect eleventh inning, but ran into the trouble in the twelfth. With the loss Nelo is 1-2 on the season.

Jeff Kobernus, Chris Rahl and Eury Perez all had two hits for the Senators.
