Pino Wins Second Straight as Fisher Cats Beat R-Phils

(Manchester, NH)-Yohan Pino allowed one earned run in eight innings and Ron Uviedo finished up with a perfect ninth inning as the Fisher Cats topped the Reading Phillies 8-4 on Tuesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

New Hampshire (11-13) squared the series at 1-1, jumping on Reading starter and losing pitcher David Buchanan (1-2) for four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jonathan Diaz reached on an error and Ryan Goins followed with a single. John Tolisano reached on an error as Diaz scored to make it 1-0. Mike McDade followed with an RBI single and Mark Sobolewski drilled an RBI double to make it 3-0. McDade scored on a groundout by A. J. Jimenez.

Reading (16-8) scored its first run in the top of the third inning. Tim Kennelly singled, moved to second on a passed ball, moved to third on a single by Troy Hanzawa and scored on a groundout by Tyson Gillies.

New Hampshire added a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. After loading the bases on a single and two walks, Jonathan Diaz hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Brad Glenn, for a 5-1 lead.

The Fisher Cats took advantage of five walks to add three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to build the lead to 8-1. Jimenez (2-for-4, 2 RBI) singled in one run and Justin Jackson and Diaz drew bases loaded walks.

Pino (2-0) worked the first eight innings, allowing five hits and four runs including a three-run homer by Kennelly in the top of the seventh inning that made it 8-4. Only one of the runs Pino allowed was earned. He walked one and struck out five to win his second consecutive decision.
