Aeros Win Seventh Straight

Akron, OH - Akron's Chun Chen drove home the winning run with a single to right field in the 10th inning Tuesday night, lifting the surging Akron Aeros to a 6-5 win over the Binghamton Mets at Canal Park.

Chen's single off Mets reliever Jeff Kaplan brought home Ryan Rohlinger who had walked to lead off the inning againt Elvin Ramirez (0-1). Rohlinger advanced to third on a single by Kyle Bellows just before Chen's game-winner.

The Aeros (16-6) extended their winning streak to seven games, and extended their lead in the Western Division to 3 =C21/2 games over second-place Harrisburg. The Aeros also improved to 10-2 at home this season.

Chen was 3-3, after entering the game as a pinch-hitter in the seventh. He clubbed an RBI double in the seventh to pull the Aeros within 5-4. In the ninth, he led off with a single and scored the tying run on a single by Juan Diaz.

Mason Radeke (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless 10th. It was his first appearance with the Aeros, and his debut at the Double-A level.

The Aeros came back from deficits of 2-0, and 5-2. The Mets (12-12) used five pitchers in the game, but none could close out the Aeros, who pounded out a season-high 15 hits.

Rohlinger smacked a solo home run in the seventh, his third of the year.

Akron starter T.J. House made his AA debut, and worked into the seventh. He gave up four runs, three earned, on four hits. He walked only one and struck out four. At one point, he retired 12 consecutive Mets hitters.

The Aeros and Mets will play game three of the series Wednesday night at 7:05, at Canal Park.
