
Texas Stars Announce Mike Modano Night

CEDAR PARK, Texas - The Texas Stars announced today that the team will honor hockey legend and former Dallas Star Mike Modano for "Mike Modano Night" at Cedar Park Center on Friday, April 4th.
Modano, the highest scoring American-born hockey player in NHL history, will be honored before the game and will drop the ceremonial first puck as the Stars battle the Lake Erie Monsters at 7:30 p.m. Fans can arrive early to receive a Mike Modano Signature Edition Rally Towel. The April 4th game against Lake Erie is also Toby Petersen Mini-Bobblehead giveaway night and is a $3 Draft Beer & $4 Robert Mondavi Private Selection Wine night.
Modano is also in the Austin area to visit with participants from the local chapter of the Dallas Stars Little Rookies program. Designed by Mike Modano, the program is an initiative of the Dallas Stars Foundation, and is supported locally by the Texas Stars Foundation, which encourages teamwork, physical fitness and education through the sport of hockey as demonstrated by trained instructors at ice facilities across Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and Austin. The Dallas Stars Little Rookies Program is a free four-week program for kids ages 4-8 who are interested in playing the game. All participants receive 30 minutes of instruction each week for four weeks, all necessary equipment and a free Dallas Stars Little Rookies jersey to take home.
About Mike Modano Modano played 21 seasons in the NHL and is the Dallas Stars' all-time franchise leader in nearly every category, including games played (1,459), goals (557), assists (802), points (1,359), short-handed goals (29), game-winning goals (92) and power play tallies (156). An eight-time NHL All-Star and United States Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, Modano is also the American-born record holder in goals (561) and points (1,374). He was also instrumental in helping the Stars capture the 1999 Stanley Cup championship.
The Livonia, Michigan, native skated for Team USA at the Olympic Games on three separate occasions, winning the silver medal at the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City. He also captured the gold medal at the 1996 World Cup of Hockey; and was captain of the United States squad at the 2005 World Cup. Modano was drafted first overall in 1988 by the Minnesota North Stars. His No. 9 jersey was official retired by Dallas on March 8, 2014.
The Texas Stars welcome the Hamilton Bulldogs to Cedar Park Center on Tuesday, March 25th at 7:30 p.m. face off at Cedar Park Center.
