Texas Legends News Release

Frisco, TX DEC. 28, 2011 - The Texas Legends have acquired a new big man with 11 years of NBA experience in the Duncanville, Texas, native Greg Ostertag.

Ostertag played in 756 NBA games averaging 4.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game in his career. A star player at Duncanville High School, Ostertag received a scholarship to the University of Kansas where he set the school record for blocks in a career. At the end of the 2005-06 NBA season, Ostertag retired with the Utah Jazz, the team that selected him 28th overall in the 1995 NBA Draft.

"Greg is a big asset both physically and mentally. Having a player with Greg's experience is invaluable for these developing players. I hope that Greg is able to use this opportunity with the Legends to create one more opportunity at the NBA, similar to what Antonio Daniels was able to do last year," said Head Coach Del Harris.

Jamal Sampson and Matt Rogers have returned to the team after their stints with NBA training camps. The Legends front court improves from an average height of 6'8" to an average of 7'0" with Sampson, Rogers, and the recently acquired Ostertag.

The Legends have also retained Drew Neitzel who was waived by the Dallas Mavericks last week. Neitzel was a standout at Michigan State earning second team All-American honors in 2008 as a 6'0" guard.

"We're thrilled to add Drew to our roster. He's a great passer and he keeps the defense honest with his outside shot," said Harris. "Drew has some quality experience playing professionally in Germany and should really help in the growth of our fine rookie, Vance Cooksey. Drew and Greg also add a great deal of much needed depth to this team, which should instantly make us more competitive."
