Los Angeles D-Fenders News Release

EL SEGUNDO - The Los Angeles D-Fenders have acquired Los Angeles Lakers training camp participants Gerald Green and Malcolm Thomas, it was announced today. Green and Thomas join the D-Fenders one day after the team reacquired Elijah Millsap, Zach Andrews and Courtney Fortson from NBA training camp rosters.

Selected by Boston in the first round of the 2005 NBA Draft (18th overall), Green, who was signed to the Lakers preseason roster on December 9, has appeared in 181 games (41 starts) over four seasons with the Celtics, Timberwolves, Mavericks and Rockets, averaging 7.5 points (.358 3FG%), 2.0 rebounds and 0.8 assists. Green, the 2007 NBA Sprite Slam Dunk Champion out of Gulf Shores Academy (Houston, TX), declared for the draft after his senior season where he was named a 2005 McDonald's All-American and won the McDonald's Slam Dunk Contest.

Signed to the Lakers training camp roster on December 13, Thomas, a 6-9 forward out of San Diego State, helped lead the Aztecs to an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance last season, averaging 11.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.02 blocks in 30.4 minutes. After just two seasons at San Diego State, Thomas concluded his career with the Aztecs as the school's second leading shot blocker of all-time while ranking eighth all-time in both rebound average and field goal percentage.

In adding Green and Thomas, the D-Fenders have waived Brian Hamilton and Terrence Roberts due to injury and will retain their rights. The roster now stands at 10 as the team continues its current four-game road trip with the Erie Bayhawks next up on December 29 at 7:00 p.m. EST.
