Texas Brahmas beat Austin Ice Bats in season opener

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (October 19)- The Texas Brahmas started the 2007-2008 season perfect on the road with a 5-4 victory over the Austin Ice Bats.

Although the Ice Bats kicked the night off with a Taylor Raszka power play goal, the Brahmas fought back with two goals of their own in the first period from forward Jordan Cameron and defenseman Kevin McLeod.

The second period turned out to be eventful for Brahmas newly acquired forward Scott Sheppard, as he netted two goals within two minutes.

Austin Ice Bats forwards Jamie Thompson and Taylor Raszka helped the Bats rally back as they tied the game up 4-4. Brahmas captain Blair Manning capped the night off with the game winner, assisted by Anders Strome and Craig Minard.

The Brahmas finished with 6 penalties and 39 shots on goal. Brahmas netminder, David Cacciola, finished the evening with 26 saves.

Tomorrow night the Texas Brahmas will face the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in Bossier City at 7:05 PM.
