Rage Name Team Captains

Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Odessa, Texas - Rocky Mountain Rage head coach Tracy Egeland named his team captains today in advance of the club's season opener tonight on the road against the Odessa Jackalopes. Player/assistant coach Brent Cullaton will wear the "C" as captain for the Rage this season. Tyler Butler and Trevor Weisgerber will represent Rocky Mountain as assistant captains when the team plays at home, and Scott Wray and Jami Yoder will wear the "A" on the road.

"Take a quick glance at the names of our captains, and the qualities they share are pretty obvious. They're our most experienced players and all have excellent leadership skills. We're going to lean on them to help show the rest of their teammates what it takes to be a winning hockey club," said Egeland. "I always like to name two sets of assistant captains, because it formally recognizes a couple of extra players who are already natural leaders in the room."

As the most senior member of the Rage's roster having played exactly 700 regular season games over 11 years as a pro, Cullaton is very familiar with this leadership role. He captained the Laredo Bucks to three straight trips to the President's Cup Finals from 2003-2006, which included titles in 2003-04 and 2005-06.

On the cusp of his fifth professional season, Butler is the second most experienced Rage blue-liner and is a former CHL All-Star who helped lead the Amarillo Gorillas to back-to-back Southern Conference Finals appearances in 2003-04 and 2004-05.

Weisgerber enters his sixth pro campaign and tied for Rocky Mountain's scoring lead last season with 50 points (20g-30a). He also serves as a great example of showing up every night and playing hard through the grind of a long season as he has appeared in every game each of the last two seasons.

Wray was also a member of Amarillo's back-to-back Conference Finals teams and is coming off his third straight 30-goal campaign. The ninth-year pro was a CHL All-Star in 2005-06 and tied for the league lead with 10 game-winning goals that season.

Beginning his 11th season, Yoder is the Rage's most experienced defenseman. He, too, is a testament to hard work and playing through aches and pains as he has averaged 67 games played a season throughout his career.

Tonight's season opener can be heard live on The New ESPN Radio 1600 beginning at 5:55 p.m. MDT with the pre-game show. Fans may also listen to the game online by logging onto www.rockymountainrage.com.

Following tonight's game and a clash tomorrow against the Amarillo Gorillas, the Rage then return home for their second season at Broomfield Event Center on Friday, Oct. 26, against the Tulsa Oilers at 7:05 p.m.
