Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA - The Youngstown SteelHounds started the 2007-08 season off with a bang as they defeated the Oklahoma City Blazers by a score of 4-2.

After a scoreless first period Youngstown opened the second with a quick goal from Joel Irving at just 12 seconds to give the Hounds a 1-0 lead. The end of the period was better for the Blazers as Sean Kotary put the puck off a SteelHounds stick to tie the game with a power play goal. The Blazers were 1-7 on the man advantage.

Chris Richards took over in the third period as the captain netted three goals for a hat trick including a power play goal with 5:15 to play to put the game out of reach. Richards finished with four points recording an assist on the Irving goal.

Andy Franck was stellar in net in his Hounds debut stopping 37 of 39 Oklahoma City shots to secure the victory. The Hounds are now 1-0-0 and their marathon road trip will continue on Saturday night when they take on the Mississippi RiverKings at 8:05. That game will be broadcasted live on WBBW - ESPN Radio 1240.
