Terry Whisnant Leads Iowa Energy to Victory in Westchester

White Plains, NY- The Iowa Energy (15-18) won 84-80 over the Westchester Knicks (19-16) Sunday afternoon at the Westchester County Center.

The Energy were led by Terry Whisnant with 19 points and seven rebounds. Patrick Christopher added 19 points and three assists. The Knicks were led by Gani Lawal with 25 points and 17 rebounds.

It was a slow start to game for Iowa. The Knicks opened up an early nine-point lead to start. Whisnant helped the Energy cut the deficit and take the lead with 10 points in the first quarter. The Knicks led the Energy 19-18 heading into the second. The Energy were briefly able to open up a four-point lead early in the second. It was a close defensive battle throughout the quarter with four lead changes. The Knicks scored two late baskets before halftime to hold a 38-35 advantage.

It continued to be a defensive game in the second half. Ramon Harris carried the Energy in the third scoring eight of the team's 19 third quarter points. The Energy held the Knicks to just 33.3 percent shooting in the third. Westchester held a 56-54 lead going into the fourth. The Energy and Knicks exchanged the lead five times in the fourth. With under a minute to play, it was all tied up 78-78. Christopher gave the Energy an 80-78 lead with 47.0 seconds left. Christopher would then seal the win for the Energy hitting two free-throws with 4.0 seconds left to push the lead to four. The Energy won 84-80 over the Knicks. Iowa held Westchester to a season low 80 points.

The Energy return home for games on Tuesday, Feb. 23 and Thursday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.
