Seven different Canton Charge players each scored at least 13 points en route to a 116-93 defeat of Raptors 905 Sunday evening at Hershey Centre in Mississauga.
The Charge took an early 18-7 lead in the first five minutes of the game. Raptors 905 recovered later in the quarter and slimmed the deficit to just two points with a minute to go in the period, but the Canton finished with a 5-0 run to carry a 29-22 lead into the second quarter. A back-and-forth second frame saw the Charge go up by as many as 14 and Raptors 905 get as close as four, but had Canton ahead 66-54 at halftime.
Raptors 905 started the third quarter with a 12-5 run to get within five points of the Charge, but Canton responded with a 13-2 run of its own over the next three minutes and carried that momentum to a 90-74 lead heading into the final quarter. In the fourth, the Charge took over, expanding its lead to as many as 27 en route to its ninth-straight win.
Scoring in double digits for Canton were Antoine Agudio (19), Michael Stockton (18), Nick Minnerath (18), Sir'Dominic Pointer (16), DJ Stephens (14), John Holland (13) and Juvonte Reddic (13). Reddic also had a game-high 19 rebounds, while Stockton contributed a game-high 12 assists. Raptors 905 was led in points by Sim Bhullar (21), Bruno Caboclo (21) and Greg Smith (12). Bhullar and Smith each collected double-doubles with 10 and 12 rebounds, respectively.
The Charge led Raptors 905 in field goal percentage (48.2-39.8), three point percentage (34.6-19.0), free throw percentage (89.3-65.5), points in the paint (58-54) and fast-break points (27-12). The teams each had 15 second-chance points.
Raptors 905 is back in action Tuesday, February 23 when the club visits the Iowa Energy at 8 p.m.
