
Teddy Bear Toss Tomorrow On Shelton Appreciation Night

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's 2001-02 Regular Season Champion and Eastern Conference Playoff Champion Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, will hold their annual "Teddy Bear Toss" when they host the Lowell Lock Monsters tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. in their first home game in two weeks. Tomorrow will also be "Shelton Appreciation Night" at the Arena at Harbor Yard.
Fans are asked to bring a stuffed animal or other plush toy and throw it on the ice during the first intermission tomorrow. The toys will be collected and delivered by Sound Tigers players and Team Mascot Storm to the Children's Ward at Bridgeport Hospital Sunday afternoon. Coca-Cola will also sponsor a prize target during tomorrow's toss. Fans must register their toys in advance at the Kid's Club Table on the concourse to be eligible to win a prize.
The Sound Tigers will honor the town of Shelton during tomorrow's game with discounted tickets being offered to residents who show proper identification at the Arena at Harbor Yard box office. Information regarding discounted tickets is also available at The Golf Center of Connecticut, Simonetti Cleaners, select Dunkin' Donuts locations in Shelton, by calling the Sound Tigers at 203-334-GOAL or by logging on to www.soundtigers.com.
Amy LaReau, a 2000 graduate of Shelton High School who is a Classical Voice major at the State University of New York at Purchase, will sing the national anthem, and Jack Early, a Shelton High School Senior who hopes to become a sports broadcaster, will take part in the pre-game ceremony tomorrow.
Led by Francesca Stirling, the wife of Head Coach Steve Stirling, wives and girlfriends of Sound Tigers' players, coaches and staff will be selling Candy Grams at tomorrow's game. The Candy Grams contain candy canes, donated by Grade A Shop Rite of Norwalk, and holiday greeting cards that have been signed by players. The Candy Grams cost $1, and all proceeds from the sales will benefit the Kennedy Center.
The Sound Tigers will also host the Hartford Wolf Pack Monday at 7:05 p.m. before heading on the road for two games versus the Manitoba Moose on December 28th and 31st. All games are broadcast live on "The ZONE" FOX Sports Radio 1300 and at www.soundtigers.com. WSTC/WNLK 1400/1350 also broadcasts road games.
