'Penalty-Free' Program Fosters Clean Play

December 20, 2002 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Connecticut Whale News Release

Hartford, December 20, 2002 -- Among the Hartford Wolf Pack's new ticketing initiatives is the "Penalty-Free" program. This plan rewards local youth hockey teams with free Wolf Pack tickets when the teams play games without being called for any penalties.

"Overly aggressive play is a big issue in hockey today," Wolf Pack Vice-President and General Manager Al Coates said. "We designed the penalty-free program to try and send a message to young players that it's very important to respect your opponent and always play within the rules of the game."

When a youth hockey team plays a penalty-free game (win or lose), their coach can fax the game stat sheet to the Wolf Pack, ATTN: Penalty-Free Hockey at (860) 240-7618. Each month for the balance of the season, the Pack will randomly select a team from the entries received, and that team will be presented with 25 complimentary tickets to a Wolf Pack game and will be recognized at the game for their good sportsmanship. For more information on the Penalty-Free program, the Wolf Pack encourages youth hockey organizations to call the Pack at (860) 548-2000.

The Wolf Pack are back on home ice this Saturday night, December 21, hosting the Utah Grizzlies (7:05 PM faceoff). The first 1,080 fans into the game will receive a free Wolf Pack sport bottle, courtesy of WTIC-AM 1080.

Wolf Pack 2002-03 season-ticket, multi-game, coupon book and group-discount packages, as well as single-game tickets, are all currently on sale. For further information, contact the Wolf Pack ticket office at 860-548-2000. And for Wolf Pack sponsorship/advertising opportunities, contact Sales at 860-246-7825.
