December 20, 2002 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

The Hamilton Bulldogs tied another franchise record as they extended their unbeaten streak to nine games, as they skated to a 1-1 tie against the Portland Pirates (AHL affiliate of Washington Capitals) at Copps Coliseum.

The Bulldogs previously went on a nine-game unbeaten streak during the 1998-99 season when they won nine consecutive games between Feb. 20/99 and Mar. 17/99.

With the tie, the Bulldogs record now stands at 23 wins, 6 losses, 3 ties and 2 overtime losses.

Portland's Colin Forbes opened the scoring at the 1:12 mark of the first period. Marcel Hossa would reply for the Bulldogs at 8:43 of the second period. That would conclude the scoring in the game.

In goal, Bulldogs' goaltender Ty Conklin stopped 16 of the 17 shots he faced. Maxime Ouellet, the game's first star, made 42 saves for the Pirates.

The Bulldogs' final home game before the Christmas break will take place on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. as Hamilton hosts the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks.
