Danbury Trashers News Release

DANBURY, CT-Frank Bialowas' return to the Danbury Ice Arena was an unsuccessful one as "The Animal" was caged for most of the evening due to a lack of fighting desire from the Frostbite. Instead Adirondack jumped out to a 2-0 lead and skated away to a 5-2 win over the Danbury Trashers before a crowd of 2,725 on Friday night.

Following a lackluster 7-2 loss to Danbury last Sunday, the Frostbite jumped out to a 1-0 lead as they earned a power play chance at the 3:47 mark on a Troy Smith interference call. Just nine seconds later, Sly Cloutier banged in his own rebound past Sly Daigle to give the Frostbite a 1-0 lead.

Dmitri Suur then extended the Frostbite lead after drove a shot from the left wing circle with Daigle screened at the 9:41 mark to give Adirondack a 2-0 advantage.

While nobody was willing to fight Bialowas, Brad Wingfield tried unsuccessfully to goad Blue Bennefield into dropping the gloves. Instead, Bennefield took some shoves and managed to goad Wingfield into a game misconduct at the 18:34 mark.

A scoreless second period was followed by the Frostbite quickly extending their lead to 3-0 in the final period as Ryan Bennett scored the first of two at the 2:12 mark with assists from Mark Hurtubise and Greg Koehler.

Danbury finally scored at the 6:30 mark as Carlyle Lewis ripped a shot past Kris Tebbs with an assist to Alex Goupil. The rally was short lived as the Frostbite scored just 1:25 later as Bennefield redirected a Chris Mei shot for his 10th of the year.

Mike Omicioli again closed the gap for the Trashers with his 11th of the season at the 12:50 mark, but Bennett scored his second of the night as he redirected a Koehler shot at the 16:58 mark while Adirondack was on a power play.

Sly Daigle takes the loss as he stopped 36 of 41 shots while Tebbs played an outstanding game with 46 saves in 48 shots faced. The Trashers fall to 29-13-8 and are now just seven points ahead of the Frostbite in the UHL East.

Danbury returns home on Saturday night at 7:30 against the Richmond RiverDogs. Tickets are available at DanburyTrashers.com or in person at the Danbury Ice Arena.
