
RiverDogs continue hot streak in 5-2 win against Elmira

ELMIRA, NY - The Richmond RiverDogs began the first of a long six game road trip victorious with a 5-2 victory over the Elmira Jackals before a crowd of 2,507. The RiverDogs jumped out to a 5-0 lead on two goal nights from John DiPace and Jason Cassells. DiPace would add an assist for three points on the night and Bill Vandermeer collected three assists as well. Brian Goudie got the team's fifth goal. Mike Oliveira continued his point-scoring streak, now at 15, with a pair of assists. Oliveira also collected a season high 19 penalty minutes as he collided and did battle with the Jackals Chris Mann. Mike D'Alessandro got the win for the Dogs as he stopped 31 shots.
With the win, the RiverDogs record now stands at 22-21-4, 48 points, which puts the team in third place in the East and eighth overall in the UHL standings. The Dogs will continue the road trip tomorrow night in Danbury, then travel to Adirondack to face the Frostbite on Sunday. The next RiverDogs home game is Friday, February 24th, at the Richmond Coliseum to face Danbury at 7:35 pm. It will also be the first of two Scout Nights with the RiverDogs.
