Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release
ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), announced today that they have added goaltender Dave Marlin and defensemen Kevin McLaughlin and Joe Koslakiewicz to their roster by signing each to a PTO.
Marlin, 28, began his playing career at the college level with SUNY-Plattsburgh in 1998-99 and SUNY-Geneseo in 1999-00. Since then, he has spent time with eight different ECHL teams, including Reading, Atlantic City, Trenton, Toledo, Fresno, Las Vegas, Dayton, and Johnstown.
The Vipers defense, which has suffered more than a fair number of injuries of late, will take some much-needed help from the towering McLaughlin. The 25-year-old native of Oakland, California stands at 6-foot-7 and weighs in at 245-pounds, making him the biggest player on the Vipers' roster. McLaughlin played in three games with the Muskegon Fury this season prior to joining the Vipers.
Koslakiewicz, who is familiar with the UHL having played briefly with each the Muskegon Fury, Flint Generals, Motor City Mechanics, and Port Huron Flags, has also spent time in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL), the North American Hockey League (NAHL), and the United States Hockey League (USHL). The Cass City, Michigan native had his best season in 2002-03 with the Soo Indians of the NAHL, putting up 18 points (7G, 11A) and 129 penalty minutes in 42 games.
All three players are expected to be in uniform tonight at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri, as the Vipers are hosted by the Missouri River Otters.
