February 10, 2006 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Game Preview One of the best rivalries in minor league hockey gets renewed tonight, as the Kalamazoo Wings face-off against the Fort Wayne Komets. This will be the fifth meeting between the teams this season and the first at Memorial Coliseum. Kalamazoo leads the season series with a record of 2-1-1; however, Fort Wayne has won the last two meetings, including a 4-3 shootout victory in their last encounter on January 28th.
The K-Wings come into the game riding a three-game winning streak. Besides the overall winning streak, Kalamazoo has also won two straight road games. On the season, the K-Wings are 6-5-3 against teams from the Western Division; however, the K-Wings are winless in their last five games against the west going 0-2-3 during that stretch.
The Komets enter Memorial Coliseum on a four-game unbeaten streak. By going 3-0-1 in their last four games, Fort Wayne has positioned themselves two points ahead of the Quad City Mallards for second place in the Western Division. Helping the Komets with their recent success has been Lance Galbraith, who is currently tied for a league best, three-game goal streak.
