Elmira Jackals News Release
Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today that they have acquired defenseman Sean Kotary from the Port Huron Flags in exchange for two players.
The Jackals have made a trade with the Port Huron flags receiving rookie defenseman Sean Kotary in exchange for rookie defenseman Sean Regan and rookie forward Andy Rozak. At 6'0", 190 Kotary had 16 points, all assists, and 42 penalty minutes in 48 games for Port Huron this season. The New Hartford, NY native was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the 9th round (266th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
"We are very happy with the addition of Sean Kotary," said Jackals Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations Perry Florio. "He is a defenseman with a nice offensive touch. He has already earned 16 assists this season so that alone makes this an upgrade on our blueline."
Kotary played the last two seasons for Division III Oswego State University. In his senior year, 2004-05, he had 12 points (15 goals, 18 assists) in 26 games and added 63 PIMs. Kotary is currently traveling to Elmira and could be in the lineup as early as Saturday against Adirondack.
Elmira continues their 6-game home stand this Friday, February 10th as they host the Richmond Riverdogs for a 7:05 pm face off at the First Arena. Saturday the Adirondack Frostbite are in town to clash with the Jackals, also a 7:05 pm face off.
