Tampa Bay Re-Assigns Former Harvard Standout; Lazarev Waived

Johnstown, PA- Johnstown Chiefs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Toby O'Brien announced today that rookie left wing Dennis Packard has been assigned to the team, from the Chiefs American Hockey League affiliate Springfield Falcons. O'Brien also announced that left wing Evgeny Lazarev has been placed on waivers.

Packard, 22, appeared in four scoreless games for the Falcons this season. Prior to turning professional, the 6'4, 234 LBS native of Kingston, PA played four seasons at Harvard University. In 36 games with the Crimson last season, he was fifth on the team in scoring with 11 goals and 22 points. In 131 career games with Harvard, Packard had 32 goals and 66 points. He was the Tampa Bay Lightning's eighth choice (seventh round; 219th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Lazarev had a goal and 3 points in five games with the Chiefs.

The Chiefs are back on War Memorial ice Friday night when they host the Dayton Bombers at 7:00 p.m.

The next designated sellout night sponsored by "Your Neighborhood Ford Store," is on Friday, November 26th, when the Chiefs host the Toledo Storm.
