
Tacoma Defiance Drops Decision at Portland Timbers 2

TACOMA, WASH. - Tacoma Defiance (5-19-5, 20 points) on Friday dropped a 6-3 decision to Portland Timbers 2 (10-11-8, 38 points) at Providence Park. First Team players Alex Roldan, Justin Dhillon and Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez each netted a goal for Tacoma. The three-goal output was the highest of the season in a road game for Defiance.
First Team midfielder Alex Roldan scored the first goal of the evening for Tacoma in the 42nd minute. Chris Hegardt sent a ball from midfield to the foot of Handwalla Bwana, who took a few touches before leaving a pass for Roldan just outside of the six-yard box. Roldan took one touch with his right foot and finished past the Portland goalkeeper to trim the lead to 3-1. The goal was the first for Roldan in six games this season.
In the 53rd minute, Dhillon received a lead pass from midfield off the foot of Danny Robles and had his first shot saved before burying the rebound for his 10th marker of the season. Ocampo-Chavez netted his fifth goal of the season in the 90th minute. Herbert Robinson won a ball and sent a pass to Ocampo-Chavez who blasted a shot from the top of the area that found the back of the net to make it 6-3.
Six players under the age of 20 saw action for Tacoma tonight, including two First Team players in Trey Muse and Ocampo-Chavez.
Defiance next returns home to take on Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Saturday, September 28 (7:00 p.m. PT / ESPN+).The club then hits the road to face Fresno FC on Saturday, October 5 (7:30 p.m. PT / ESPN+).
