The El Paso Chihuahuas brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the 13th inning in Saturday night's comeback-filled game but lost to the Tacoma Rainiers 15-12 at Southwest University Park. The two teams split Saturday's day/night doubleheader, which totaled 22 innings and more than eight hours of play.
The Chihuahuas were down by four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and scored four to tie the game. Tyler Greene and Jeff Francoeur both had two-run hits in the rally. The Rainiers scored twice in the top of the tenth inning before the Chihuahuas also scored twice to extend the game. Brooks Conrad's two run single plated the two tenth-inning runs.
Rocky Gale was 4-for-6 in the loss. Greene and Chris Nelson had three hits each for El Paso.
Gale caught 21 of the 22 innings in Saturday's doubleheader. Travis Buck left the game in the seventh inning with an apparent leg injury after grounding out to shortstop.
