Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
LAST NIGHT'S WIN: Omaha claimed the season series with Oklahoma City with their ninth win as well as the season series at Bricktown Ballpark with their fifth win in seven contests in OKC. Omaha improved to 10-2 in games started by Aaron Brooks, while Carlos Peguero was a triple shy of the cycle in his first game with Omaha in 23 days (last appeared on June 5 vs OKC).
LITTLE LAMB ALLOWS: John Lamb has now gone 11 consecutive starts allowing three earned runs or less (has given up more than three total runs four times during this stretch, as Lamb has the most unearned runs on the Chasers at nine this season). In his last seven starts, Lamb has given up only ten earned runs in 37.2 innings for a 2.39 ERA, which is the fourth lowest ERA in the PCL during that stretch (Oklahoma City starter Nick Tropeano is tied for the second lowest ERA in the PCL at 1.60), while he has racked up 34 of his team-leading 76 strikeouts.
ROAD WARRIORS: Last night Omaha tied Oklahoma City for the most road wins in the PCL at 24, and can become the first team to 25 road wins tonight (they had 34 road wins all of last season). The Chasers have reeled off 16 of their league-leading 24 road wins in their last 20 contests (including five wins against the RedHawks), and have won 14 of their 18 road contests against A.L. affiliates this season. Omaha started the season 1-7 on the road (23-11 since April).
A MERRY MERRIFIELD: Last night Whit Merrifield had his second four-hit game in his 18 appearances with Omaha (had no professional four-hit games prior to his stint with the Storm Chasers). Since Merrifield joined Omaha on June 7, he leads the Chasers with 27 hits and his .386 average is second best in the PCL in the month of June (Brennan Boesch of Salt Lake at .410).
ROAD FINALES: Omaha has won seven of ten road series finales this season, and seven of their last eight. The only loss was at Oklahoma City on May 30 (game started by John Lamb).
BASE CHASERS: The Chasers have a PCL-leading 38 steals this month, their most in a month as far back as the 2004 season. They lead all of Triple-A baseball with 92 steals (only team at 90). Omaha also has 12 straight games with a steal (27 of 29 during that stretch). WINS AT BRICKTOWN: With a win, Omaha would win six of the eight games at Bricktown Ballpark for the third time in the last four seasons, which they did during the 2012 season at 6-2, and the 2011 season at 6-2, which would be tied for their most wins at OKC in the last ten seasons.
DIGGING THE LONG BALL IN JUNE: Omaha reached 30 homers in June last night, which is their most in a month this season and their most since June of 2012 when they hit 32. In the past four seasons, Omaha has only reached 30+ homers in June (2011 season they had 37).
