Kansas City Monarchs News Release

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones have announced the signing of Trevor Coleman, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound catcher from Dripping Springs, Texas.

The Seattle Mariners drafted Coleman in the ninth round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft. He spent parts of four seasons (2009-12) in the Mariners organization, mainly at the A level. Last year he played three games for class-AAA Tacoma in the Pacific Coast League. During his time with the Seattle organization (216 games), Coleman batted .231 with 166 hits and 99 runs batted in. He played five games this year at High Desert, the Mariners' high-A club.

Coleman, 24, played his collegiate baseball at the University of Missouri, where he was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and a Freshman All-American in 2007. He was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection after his junior year, 2009. That season he hit six home runs and had 32 RBIs.

"He gives us experience behind the plate, and a switch-hitter with power from both sides of the plate," said T-Bones manager Kenny Hook. "With his experience he's a good fit for our veteran pitching staff. And, throughout his career he's been around winning and knows what it takes to get the job done."

Coleman came in as a defensive replacement in the ninth inning on Tuesday night against Gary SouthShore.

Earlier on Tuesday, the T-Bones placed pitcher Kyle Dahman on irrevocable waivers. Dahman started the season on the Inactive List. Also, outfielder Matt Garza and pitcher Drew Graham cleared waivers and became free agents. With those moves and the addition of Coleman, the T-Bones' roster is at 22 players.
