Kansas City Monarchs News Release

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - This year, the Kansas City T-Bones are teaming up with the United States Army's Department of Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) to honor our military personnel by designating military appreciation seats at each home game at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The T-Bones have reserved four seats directly behind home plate for selected military personnel and three guests. The selected individuals have a reserved front-row parking spot and are escorted to their seats to be recognized during the second inning.

"The vision behind this is to show our support and appreciation to the military," said Joe Goll, director of promotions with the Kansas City T-Bones. "It's so great to be able to do that, and to do it every single night."

The individuals to be recognized were selected before the start of the season by the Command Sergeant Majors of the various units stationed at Fort Leavenworth (Kansas).

"When the T-Bones approached us about this generous donation, we knew it would be well received by the units, however we had no idea how well!" said Mary Manago, director of commercial sponsorship and marketing for Fort Leavenworth FMWR. "With 50 home games this season we have been able to recognize 50 soldiers and their families or friends during the season. They get VIP treatment and enjoy America's favorite pastime. Fort Leavenworth FMWR greatly appreciates this opportunity to work with the T-Bones to bring this opportunity to our soldiers."

The T-Bones have an annual Military Appreciation Night, recognizing those who serve our country, but have never reserved specific seats at every home game. (This year's Military Appreciation Night is Saturday, June 20.)

"We know the fans love it and appreciate it," said Goll. "We really want to show appreciation to the military and to the people who have served overseas. It's a really cool way, especially with our new video board we can show them on the video screen and usually the whole stadium stands up and applauds. It's a really cool thing to see each night."

Tickets for Military Appreciation Night, as well as all remaining 2015 T-Bones home games, are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618 or at tbonesbaseball.com.
