Sioux Falls Canaries News Release
SIOUX FALLS, SD- The Sioux Falls Canaries (11-11) handed the St. Paul Saints (18-3) their third loss of the season after a 3-0 win in game-one, but dropped the second game of the double-header by the final score of 6-2, to earn a two-game split in front of a crowd of 3,519 fans at Sioux Falls Stadium on Friday night.Â
Former SDSU standout, Stephen Bougher (1-0, 0.00 ERA) signed with the Birds' late in the afternoon, and was immediately put into action, making his first start of the season. Â The right-hander held a dangerous Saints offense in check, allowing just five hits over six shutout innings.Â
The Birds' bottom third of the order came up big in game one, with Tyler Shover, RJ Perucki, and Harrison Kain each posting a 2-for-3 day at the plate. Â Kain's two-run homerun (2) in the bottom of the 5th inning propelled the Canaries to their 11th win of the season.Â
Saints starting pitcher Dustin Crenshaw (4-1, 1.50 ERA) suffered his first loss of the season after allowing three runs on eight hits over six innings.Â
St. Paul took game two of the double-dip by the final score of 6-2 after posting a big five run inning in the top of the 2nd inning,. Vince DiFazio capped off the frame with a three-run homerun (3) over the left field wall. Â Alonzo Harris also hit a solo homerun in the inning, finishing his day 2-for-4 with a double, a homerun and two RBI.Â

Saints starter Kramer Sneed (3-1, 2.40 ERA) avenged his loss from last Sunday against Sioux Falls, with an impressive performance. Â The southpaw allowed just two runs on five hits over six innings, and did not walk a batter for the first time this season.Â
The two teams continue their four-game series on Saturday night with gates opening at 5:00 PM. RHP Brett Gerritse (0-4, 5.31 ERA) will toe the rubber against Saints RHP Robert Coe (2-0, 1.25 ERA).Â
