
T-Bones Drop Opener in Gary

GARY, In. - The Kansas City T- Bones dropped game one, of the three-game series against the Gary RailCats, 9-2, Friday night at the US Steelyard.
The RailCats got to Kansas City starting pitcher Casey Barnes in the opening frame, as Jon Jones started the game with a lead-off triple. Jones scored two batters later, when Barnes got Drew Martinez to ground into a double-play.
The RailCats added four additional runs against Casey Barnes (0-1), who took the loss for the T-Bones. Barnes pitched 4.2 innings, and was charged with five runs, on four hits and four walks.
Down 6-0 in the seventh inning, T-Bones outfielder Adam Bailey doubled to deep left, which scored Alex Marquez and Ryan Cavan. The double was Bailey's first of the season, and cut the T-Bones deficit to 6-2.
The RailCats stormed right back in the bottom of the seventh inning, with three runs off T-Bones reliever Jared Messer extending their lead to a 9-2 final.
RailCats starting pitcher Chris Cummins (1-0) picked up his first win of the season with five shutout innings.
The T-Bones (1-6) return to the US Steelyard Saturday evening, with a 6:10pm first pitch against the RailCats (5-4), in the second game of the three-game series.
