Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
Gary, IN - The Gary SouthShore RailCats pounced on the Kansas City T-Bones for nine runs on 13 hits in Friday's series-opening victory at the U.S. Steel Yard.
Centerfielder Jon Jones led the game off with a ringing triple to center field, and J.D. Pulfer roped a bases-clearing double in the third inning to give the ¬ËCats (5-4) an early 4-0 cushion.
Starting pitcher Chris Cummins (1-0) worked into and out of trouble, but ended up going five innings and giving up no runs while striking out four KC hitters.
SouthShore added runs in the fifth and sixth before Jones' second triple of the game put the game away.
Jones finished the game 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. He has three triples through the season's first nine games.
Pulfer, Zac Mitchell, Adam Taylor and Michael Schroeder also had multi-hit games.
With the win, Gary has its first winning streak of the season, and look to make it three in a row Saturday at 6:10 p.m. against the T-Bones (1-6).
